Overwatch's Theresa Nix Recognized as 2009 U.S. Air Force Outstanding Individual Reservist of the Year

- Overwatch, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today announced that Overwatch Program Manager, Capt. Theresa A. Nix was selected by the U.S. Air Force as the recipient of its Outstanding Individual Reservist of the Year Award in the Company Grade Officer (CGO) category.

Nix was one of 31 nominees in four categories for this prestigious award. Winners were honored at the National Reserve Officer Association conference in Washington D.C., where they were officially recognized for their achievement. In addition, Nix was authorized to wear the Air Force Recognition Ribbon with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Nix joined the Air Force in 2002 as an Intelligence Officer. She served as team lead for ground targets and deployed for five months to the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC). In 2005, Captain Nix transitioned to the Air Force Reserves. In 2006, she served as the Officer in Charge of the Counterterrorism Cell for the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (NATO). In 2007, she served at Central Command’s Intelligence Support Center-San Antonio, Texas, where she established a new Reserve Targets unit and served as Deputy Chief of Operations.

Recently returning from a six-month deployment to Afghanistan where she was the Detachment Commander for the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Document and Media Exploitation mission at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, Nix distinguished herself as Deputy Chief, Target Development, Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Division, 613th Air and Space Operations Center, Thirteenth Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. Nix was responsible for supporting United States and coalition Special Forces in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Nix attributes her achievement to being active in humanitarian aid. She is a dedicated member of the community in which she lives and is an active member of Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship. Nix attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in applied linguistics from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois. She currently is the program manager for Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) programs at Overwatch in Austin, Texas.
